Meters high garden pots from the mekka of terracotta: Tavernelle, just outside Florence. The young Italian designer Elettra began straight after the art academy to the small work shop of pottery maker Francesco del Re. Her popular and much copied designs are made by a secret mix of, carefully selected, clay. Each pot is made by hand and stays for days in the glowing hot oven. The material becomes so hard, you can call it terraforte. Big extra: the pots are guaranteed frostfree. Text: margriet de groot
